Nick Child, in Edinburgh Scotland, is younger at heart than he might look and be! For a decade he has enjoyed Cuban Salsa - in particular the circle dance Rueda de Casino. Rueda has similarities to Scottish Ceilidh dancing. Both are certainly fun. Working with groups of people as a family therapist fits too! (For more on his professional demystification writings click here; for more on the Family Therapy at CC Lothian click here.) Nick thought that marrying Ceilidh and Rueda would produce twice as much fun!
Inspired further by the famous Edinburgh band, Salsa Celtica, who blend Cuban and Celtic music, Nick adapted Ceilidh dances to Cuban music.
Then he choreographed even simpler sets of steps and patterns that take no more time to teach than a Scottish Ceilidh dance does. For now here are the simpler patterns as a starter.
This website is Nick's way of making Salsa Ceilidh available to all. It is also the home page for the monthly Malecon Matinee in Portobello (click here). Email him at: [email protected]
