It's the classless way to have fun, and to learn
or to improve your salsa.
What Is Salsa Ceilidh?
Blending the party dances of Scotland and Cuba, Nick Child has come up with Salsa Ceilidh (pronounced "Kaylee"). The dances are freshly choreographed slow repeating patterns drawn from Scottish Ceilidh and Cuban Rueda de Casino circle dances, danced to beautiful slow Cuban music. Click here for a demo.
Don't confuse this with other events called "Salsa Ceilidh". They are lots of fun too, but they are just a mixture of ordinary salsa alternating with ordinary ceilidh dances.
Salsa Ceilidh's Appeal

The website will be developed. Come back and see it again! The demo gives an idea of what it looks like. There will eventually be demos of all the Salsa Ceilidh patterns and dances. Meanwhile the text descriptions (click on Sets) should be easy enough to follow. For those that like things written down, if you follow the Basics, you'll have more fun and not go wrong.
The photos here are Cuba. The top one is of Havana's famous seafront road, El Malecon, at sunset. Salsa Celtica jokingly compared Edinburgh's seaside promenade in their song El Portobello Malecon. Every month there is a celebration of more traditional Cuban Son music and dance in Portobello at Malecon Matinee. More info here. We always do some Salsa Ceilidh at MM.
